No property tax is due if the household's worldwide yearly income is below 40,000 GEL. Few foreign investors fall under this threshold, but it exempts many local residents.
Between 40,000 and 100,000 GEL of income, the rate is 0.05% to 0.2% of the property's market value, set yearly by the municipality.
Above 100,000 GEL of income, the rate rises to 0.8% to 1% of market value. It is capped by the municipal cadastral value, typically 60% to 70% of the real price.
The return is filed on rs.ge before 1 November, payment is due by 15 November. A Georgian accountant handles the yearly filing for 50 to 100 GEL.
